Sanctuary is looking for volunteers on Sunday, May 22nd, to help plant a community flower garden in the parklet on Butler!
We would like to invite Pittsburghers of all ages and all walks of life to plant perennial flowers along the perimeter of Sanctuary’s Parklet on Butler. Last year, we gave the parklet a much-needed facelift, and this year we hope to beautify this community space by planting hearty, low maintenance flowers along the perimeter. We are asking members of the community to volunteer their time, skills, and a few flowers, to elevate the parklet to new heights, and establish a community flower garden for all to enjoy.
Volunteers are asked to bring their own plants and all gardening tools. We will be planting rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the weather. The parklet has no running water, but we have a water source in the studio so bring buckets. We are looking for hearty perennials like roses, with little to no maintenance needed.
If you are interested in our helping with our community flower garden, please sign up on the google document linked below.
We are also looking for volunteer stewards to coordinate regular maintenance and keep the park looking nice. This can be one individual, a group of people, or even a group of friends or family members. If you’re interested in stewardship of our community flower garden, please send an email to info@sanctuarypittsburgh.com, with “Flower Garden Stewardship” in the subject line.
