Our founder, Suz Pittenger, started this business in 2020 with the intention of creating a relaxed and inclusive private studio. Over the last 4 years we have welcomed resident artists and guest artists to the space.

 

We believe tattooing is a sacred practice. We handle each client with care and respect, ensuring that they feel comfortable throughout the entire process.

If you're interested in getting a tattoo, we accept both walk-in tattoos and tattoo appointments booked through our inquiry form. Text or call our shop cell phone and we'll let you know if we have time for a same day walk-in. We are confident in our abilities to create stunning and meaningful tattoos, and we are proud to be voted Pittsburgh’s Best Tattoo Shop in 2023 by City Paper.

Tattoos can be a painful experience, but it shouldn't be a traumatizing one. Unfortunately, the tattoo industry has a long way to go in terms of respecting both clients and artists. Tattoo parlors have not always lived up to the standards that should be established when dealing with such an intimate and personal art form. At Sanctuary, we offer a warm and welcoming environment for tattooing that prioritizes safety and privacy.
